CTC SPONSORS TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C. FOR AREA YOUTH

Brainerd, MN – January 13, 2005 – Consolidated
Telecommunications Company (CTC) is sponsoring an all-expenses paid
educational trip
to Washington, D.C. One area student will attend the 11th annual Foundation
for Rural Service (FRS) Youth Tour, June 4-8, 2005.
CTC will be selecting one student from the areas that it serves and
that student will gain a first-hand look at the telecommunications
industry and the legislative process by
visiting Congress, the Federal Communications Commission and other
government agencies. They will also see famous landmarks such as the
Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Institution, Jefferson Memorial,
Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and others.
To qualify, a student must be a high school junior and must have
telephone, long distance, or Internet services from CTC. Each student
is required to write a short essay on the
telecommunications industry or the benefits of belonging to a cooperative.
Applications have been sent to the guidance offices of local schools,
and all materials are due to CTC by March 15th.
This year the Youth Tour will bring together over 100 high school
students from throughout rural communities from around the U.S. Students
will arrive in Washington, D.C. for a four-day educationally and culturally
enriching experience.
